Topics
Building on the core thematic areas discussed at the 7th UNESCO Youth Forum (2011) on ‘How Youth Drive Change’ and the recommendations formulated by its 211 youth delegates, this Policy Forum explored three key themes:
- Youth engagement in planning education for conflict transformation and peacebuilding;
- Strengthening young peoples’ skills and opportunities for civic engagement within formal and non-formal education systems;
- Enhancing the relevance of education systems for young people in their transition into employment
The Opening Remarks portion and first session of the Policy Forum, entitled “Global Perspectives of Youth Engagement”, introduced these themes by first looking at youth engagement on an international scale.
