Our virtual roundtable on the contents of the Agenda for Action concluded this week with a variety of stakeholders contributing feedback to a draft version of this crucial outcome document via email or our online forum. We heard from participants from various backgrounds, roles and countries thanks to our network of dedicated Policy Forum participants and the actively engaged www.planwithyouth.org online community.
First and foremost, IIEP would like to thank everyone for their thoughtful and insightful contributions. We see the amount and level of detail of this feedback as an important indicator of the tremendous commitment all of our participants have towards youth engagement in educational policy development and planning. We also see this feedback as part of the growing momentum that youth engagement seems to be gaining on both national and international agendas every day. Just this week our director, Mr Khalil Mahshi, was invited to take part as a rapporteur in an event that will be the first in a series of annual meetings jointly convened by the EU and Arab League to further inter-ministerial dialogue between the two regions. With youth and education as a main topic of focus for this first important meeting, IIEP had a lot to offer in terms of recommendations and feedback from the Policy Forum.
But what’s next? What is the next step on the path of potential opportunities for youth engagement that was built through the important discussions at the Forum?
We will be working to incorporate all the feedback received from the virtual roundtable into a finalized version of the Agenda for Action over the next few weeks. The final document will then be announced and made available on the Planwithyouth website in early December. Once the final Agenda for Action is ready, we will put out a call for commitments and would be grateful if you would share it with your networks, as well as encourage the support of this outcome document with your own commitment.
In the meantime, if you and/or the organization you represent have any specific commitments (more detailed than the ones currently listed in the draft Agenda for Action) please let us know. You can comment and encourage others to the do the same in our online forum or send them to Planwithyouth@iiep.unesco.org.
Thank you again for your support and we look forward to working with you again on this next step.
